#SHOWERS OF BLESINGS

showerheavy rain

When i say ‘showers of blessings’, i do not mean that heavy rain that filled up your house. I’m taking about the love and blessings that our Lord Jesus Christ always showers us with in abundance. They say that the hardest arithmetic is that which enables us to count our blessings. When you learn to appreciate the blessing the Lord give you, you just find yourself being happy and joyful at the simple things in life.

The bible says in Jeremiah 29:11, ‘ For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’ Where do you think all your prosperity comes from? That good job that you have, the great family He has given you, that nice life you are living and most important of all the good health you are enjoying. All you need to do is believe in Him and see your burden taken away as He says in psalms 34:8, ‘ Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him’. In Jeremiah 17:7-8, ‘But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit’.

Most of the times our blessing appear to us in the form of disappointments, pain or even loses, but with a little faith and patience we shall see the light at the end of it. You needed to loose that job in order to start your own prosperous business and you had to be dissapointed by that someone for you to find your future half.

According to Rick Warren there are four laws of blessing ( Genesis 12:2, ‘I will bless you … and you will be a blessing.’ ):

  • Our blessings should flow to others.
  • When we bless others, God takes care of our needs.
  • Our blessings to others will come back on us.
  • The more we are blessed by God, the more He expects up to help others.

When your grateful for all the blessings, it puts away all the stress about things not i your control like pollution, aging, scandals etc. It helps you focus and create a prospective of things.

I just thank God for all the blessings He has given me this far in my life, and for all the many more blessing to come.

#HIV – AIDS

I know we have all heard about HIV and we are all either infected by the virus or affected by it.

So what is HIV?

HIV stands for Human Immunodeficiency Virus while AIDS stands for Acquired Immune-Deficiency Syndrome. AIDS is developed in the last stages of a HIV infection and it may even take several years. As it stand now there is no cure for but with proper medical care it can be controlled. The treatment is called antiretroviral therapy. Today, someone diagnosed with HIV and treated before the disease is far advanced can have a nearly normal life expectancy. HIV affects specific cells of the immune system, called CD4 cells, or T cells. Over time, HIV can destroy so many of these cells that the body can’t fight off infections and disease. When this happens, HIV infection leads to AIDS.

Where did it come from?

AIDS108

According to CDC (Center for Disease Control) website, Scientists identified a type of chimpanzee in West Africa as the source of HIV infection in humans. They believe that the chimpanzee version of the immunodeficiency virus (called simian immunodeficiency virus, or SIV) most likely was transmitted to humans and mutated into HIV when humans hunted these chimpanzees for meat and came into contact with their infected blood. Studies show that HIV may have jumped from apes to humans as far back as the late 1800s. Over decades, the virus slowly spread across Africa and later into other parts of the world. Getting tested is the best of way of knowing if you are infected with the virus. Some of the symptoms can include fever, sore throat, rash and/or enlarged lymph-nodes although you cannot rely on the symptoms as many people who are infected do not have any symptoms at all for up to 10 years or more.

On the other hand you cannot assume you have HIV because you have these symptoms because they can also be caused by other illnesses.

How is it transmitted?

  • It is usually transmitted through blood or body fluids in the following manner:
  • Having unprotected sex with an infected partner.
  • Sharing needles with infected person(s).
  • By birth from an infected mother.
  • Being pricked with a contaminated sharp object.
  • Through blood transfusion or organ transplant that are contaminated with the virus.

and so on.

If you are afraid that you have the virus, you should get tested and seek immediate assistance. Even though AIDS is incurable, there are medications you can take called antiretroviral drugs that allow patients to lead a longer life in better health and with less suffering. You may also need to take the medications if you may have been exposed to the virus recently, for example if a condom breaks. This is called Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP).

You should always take proper care of your body, eat well and don’t stress your immune system. Make  regular visits to you health provider and be sure to treat any open wounds that you may have. Always make sure to take your medication regularly as prescribed by the doctor. Do not infect others and keep them safe. Counseling also help coping with the virus.

Remember to always use a condom every time you have sex, or just abstain from sex until marriage. Married people should be faithful to their partners.
